Character Information
Name: Conrad Achenleck
Canon Origin/Series: Hanna is not a Boy's Name
Teaching Position and why it suits them: Transfiguration; The reason I chose transfiguration is because he's a vampire in canon and can transform into a bat. I wanted to take advantage of that. Also, as an artist, he would have more knowledge of taking one thing and transforming it into something else. Conrad also has shown being able to handle change in general, which I feel like is something that can translate in dealing with transfiguration.
Suitability: Conrad is shown in canon as being kind of hard to deal with. He isn't openly friendly and he seems to struggle with interacting with people as a whole. He also has quite a bad mouth. But I think having him as a teacher would help curb his language quite a bit, but also open him up to interacting and being more sociable. He's also actually a very kind person and he'd be very open to helping students out who are struggling with their work. As someone who's pretty high strung, he'd also be very strict in enforcing the school rules and making sure students follow them and respect authority.
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Out of school living location: New York City, New York, USA
Blood status: Muggleborn/???

Personality:
The best way to describe Conrad is that he's a pansy. Wussy. A pussy. The list goes on. But he really does have kind of a reason to be so. His mother had thought Conrad was suffering from so many things when he was a kid, that Conrad started believing it himself. Because of it, he had absolutely no self esteem as a kid. He pushed people away and avoided them, basically growing up as a friendless child. Because of that, Conrad has a lot of insecurities about people and even more about himself.

He doesn't stay like that forever. He eventually grew up to accept himself and grew more comfortable with himself (ironically, he dies when he starts being fine with himself).

Still, he has a lot of insecurities about himself that he can't get over. He has a lot of anxieties and his neurosis just gets in the way of a lot of things, especially when it comes to the thought of biting down on someone for the sake of surviving. It's funny how his neurosis seems to even block out the most primitive survival skills to eat and live. But hey, he either has really good self control, or he just really doesn't want to bite you. That's good right?

To go along with the fact that he is a total wimp and wuss, Conrad has huge anger management issues. He's quick to blow up and get irritated. The guy is constantly irritable or exasperated because of his temperament. Apparently becoming a vampire does very little to change any of this.

Regardless, Conrad isn't some evil asshole. Quite the opposite. He can't help but be a nice guy. He's spent most of his life being walked on all over that he just can't be anything but a nice guy. He tries to hide it by being standoffish and being a complete and utter asshole, but he's mostly all bark and no bite. Funny, since he won't bite people for blood. Although he tries to act like he doesn't care or tries to seem intimidating, Conrad shows that he obviously cares and that he can be nice or polite. He seems to have a fond spot for Hanna and even felt bad for punching Worth in the face.

Conrad is prone to freaking out easily, which really doesn't help his neurosis.

He also seems to come off as rather pretentious and snooty, and seems the type to judge others quickly by appearance. This probably the fact that he keeps himself so well groomed and kept nicely. He doesn't exactly mean to and has usually apologized for it.

He's argumentative and constantly will be in your face about small things for apparently no reason. It just seems like that Conrad tries to make a problem out of everything which is probably just going back his insecurities. He seems rather good at adapting himself to things, seeing as he got used to being a vampire pretty quickly. And as much as he complains and gripes, he seems to not actually mind so much about the stupid situations he seems to get dragged in. He really is a nice guy with just a lot of anger.

Canon Background:
As a kid, Conrad had absolutely no self esteem. His mother wholeheartedly believed that Conrad had all sorts of psychological disorders and was treated as so.

The disorders themselves may or may not have been there, but being told time after time that he suffered them, he started to develop some of them.

Conrad alienated himself from other children, thinking that he really was a harm to society as his mother thought. Even so, Conrad eventually grew up to become more comfortable with himself. He graduated as a graphic designer and does pretty well for himself as a freelance artist. He lives in a condo by himself and makes well enough money to own a car and have money to spare for spending. He's not rich, but he does well for himself.

This is where our actual story begins now. That was just small back story about him.

We first see Conrad when he comes to Hanna's apartment, beaten up and clothes torn. Well, it's more like dragged to Hanna's place. Either way, the guy arrives all beaten up, his clothes in disarray and partly missing, and extremely pissed.

Conrad arrived to ask Hanna about his vampire problem, who apparently had been who(or what) that had beaten him up and kicked him out of his own apartment. Of course, {...} scared the shit out of him. He hasn't quite accustomed himself to the paranormal and dead things happening to him yet, especially seeing zombies in the flesh...decomposing flesh. Anyways, Conrad explains to them that a bat did that much damage to him (oh god, seriously, a bat) and that he didn't care how much it would cost to get rid of it.

They head to Conrad's condo, which was on the artsy side of town and is actually quite nice. The interior is well furnished too. Conrad starts yelling at the bat, who is disgruntled that Conrad has returned. They also find out that their vampire is a she. {...} and Conrad are kicked out of his condo while Hanna and the vampire seem to come to an agreement where Hanna help her out in exchange for leaving Conrad's place. Of course this is short-lived when suspicious, glowing activity from the runes that Hanna made come out of the cracks from under the door. Conrad tries to barge in, only to have the door opened and have him falling on his face. While he's on his face, {...} and Adelaide start fighting. Hanna is also vomiting blood while this is all happening, and Adelaide rips {...}'s arm off and beats him up. Conrad, by then starts trying to choke her with his belt, only to remember that vampires don't need to breath. She hits him in the crotch and carries him to the roof while he's incapacitated.

By the time {...} and Hanna get to the roof, Conrad is dying on the floor, his neck being bitten into. Adelaide jumps Hanna, but {...} slashes her back with Hanna's hammer that he had brought with him. Hanna demands the hammer from {...} and takes some of the blood and gives it to Conrad. Thus, Conrad starts his vampire life by punching Hanna in the face. By then, Adelaide has left and Conrad is refusing to believe he's a vampire at this point. Hanna then drags Conrad and {...} to Doc Worth, an uncertified doctor and a drop-out with a shady clinic in an alleyway. Doc Worth and Conrad do not get along right off the bat. As in they start fighting each other even. Verbally at first until Conrad punches him in the face (actually, Conrad seems to be really good at punching people. Who would have thought). He's able to draw blood and finds that tasting the blood on his fist, it's quite good. Thus, Conrad comes to terms that he's been turned into a vampire.

The next time they meet, it's at Down the Rabbit Hole, which is a bar that they apparently frequent. Conrad is already waiting there when they arrive. At this point, he lets them call him Conrad and feels bad for breaking Doc Worth's nose. Hanna just laughs at this mind you. Here we find out that Conrad has only been eating blood from packages, as he won't actually bite anyone for a meal. Pansy. We also find out that Conrad can't eat normal food (probably makes him sick) and that Hanna is 24 (even if he doesn't look it). The owner of the bar suddenly appears (and scares the shit out of Conrad, go figure), before handing Hanna a letter. Whatever it is, Hanna rushes off, forcing Conrad and {...} to catch up with him.

The three arrive at the stage where they meet Toni, the one who sent the letter to Hanna. While Toni realizes that Hanna, is indeed Hanna, Conrad bites his finger and laughs a little. Thus, Hanna starts keeping a tally of how many times Conrad and {...} smiles. While Hanna and the lead apparently start arguing, the lights in the auditorium go out. A ghost had came out and phased through Hanna, causing him to collapse. Conrad and {...} take Hanna to Doc Worth immediately.

Worth and Conrad start fighting immediately before Worth kicks the two out to fix up Hanna, who isn't doing so hot. Toni arrives soon after, ruining Conrad's dinner. Whoops. Hanna comes back out apparently fine suddenly.

They return to the auditorium and sneak into the back. Hanna has Conrad and Toni stay outside to keep watch and to avoid leading them into something that would be potentially dangerous. Too bad that backfired completely.

While they're waiting, Toni and Conrad get into some trouble. Thus, Conrad gets kicked in the face. Sucks to be Conrad. Seriously. But it turns out Toni is a crazy bamf and goes werewolf on the two vampires(Finas and Casimiro) that had came. While Conrad is being a whiny little shit, Toni goes and be the one to man up.

Except when Hanna, {...}, and their newly acquired friend, Veser, Conrad and Toni are playing poker with the vampires. Casimiro gets really angry at Hanna for freeing Adelaide to the point where he starts losing his humanity. Casimiro calms down before telling Hanna to find Adelaide and says he'll pay well or kill him before flying off with Finas. Things for that night generally end in relative peace. Although it could have gone better or worst.

The next time we see Conrad, it's at his condo again. Hanna and {...} are late which of course worries the hell out of him based on Hanna's past experiences where he's around. Hanna gives him his dinner and we find out Veser is staying with Conrad. Once again, no one believes that Hanna is 24. Some banter before Hanna talks about Veser and the death they came upon at the auditorium. Veser leaves angrily to find this guy that Hanna thinks might be linked to the death. Letting Veser cool off, Hanna drags Conrad and {...} to Toni's school. Since Toni is a werewolf, Hanna asks her to track the guy down...rather tactlessly. So Toni turns into a little dog with the charm she uses to change at will (it's slightly cracked which makes changing unstable) and starts tracking Ples (the guy in question) down. They eventually find the house.

When they enter, we find out that Conrad has to follow the vampire rules and cannot enter without being invited, so he's stuck outside. Of course this leads to him not knowing what's going on inside, so he completely freaks out when the house suddenly goes into lockdown with the other three still inside. Not to mention suddenly hearing a bang makes Conrad totally freak out.

Freak out enough to run all the way to Doc Worth. Of course when Lam (someone who seems to frequent Worth's clinic and seems to be friends with him) tries to shake Conrad's hand, he goes off on a tangent about all the shit he went through to get to the clinic and also taking a stab at Lamont's outward appearance. He then goes back to the point where he thinks Hanna is being shot and is stuck in some creeper's house. Lamont leads Conrad out to his car since Worth seems to be having some epiphany or lack of. Conrad apologizes for making a stab at his appearance before Worth shoves Conrad to the middle seat of the car angrily.

At some point Adelaide is suddenly in the car. Or has been in the car for awhile. We also find out that the driver behind them is some bounty hunter or vampire hunter because he's armed and apparently hates vampires. And, lo and behold, Adelaide and Conrad are both vampires.

The hunter slams into their car, which ends with them hitting a lamp post. The four of them scurry out of the car. We find out here that Conrad can turn into a bat...and fails at flying. And, man that vampire hunter sure don't look happy shooting at all of them.

Background (AU!Canon; HP): Paranormal Conrad Achenleck was born in Manchester, England. Conrad knows nothing about his father and grew up being raised by his mother as an only child. His mother was a muggle, but it's unknown as to what his father was as he'll never actually get to know his father.

Conrad grew up thinking he suffered from multiple psychological disorders and maybe even begun legitimately suffering form some of them from the influence of his mother and his mother wholeheartedly thought he had them. The constant strange things that happen around him on a daily basis only strengthened these fears in his mother.

He had no friends, alienated from kids his age with the strange occurrences and convinced that he was a harm to society, something that his mother seemed to have convinced him into believing. Things started to make more sense when Conrad received his letter from Hogwarts. His mother did quickly to send him off to Hogwarts each year, still letting him come for the Summers.

Even at Hogwarts, Conrad was awkward and struggled to make friends, but one couldn't deny that he was remarkable as a student. Conrad was fairly good at all his subjects (all he did was study), but was exceptional specifically in his transfiguration classes. He was a Ravenclaw, so wit and smarts was on his side.

After graduating from Hogwarts, Conrad moved back to Manchester for a little while. He didn't stay long though, and moved to London, where it was easier to stay in contact with the Wizarding world. Despite being a talented wizard though, Conrad was less than sociable and struggled to find work in which he wanted to actually do or enjoyed.

He ends up leaving England completely and moving to New York, conforming back into muggle society as a successful graphic designer. For a little while, Conrad is fairly successful in this endeavor, growing used to a quiet life in his studio condo. While he still kept up with his magic and the news, he mostly kept to himself and the few ties he had made while in school.

But Conrad receives a letter from Hogwarts asking if he would like to be a Transfiguration teacher seven years into his career as a designer. He's 26, and ends up agreeing to be one. He isn't sure what actually convinces him, but Conrad starts teaching Transfiguration. While his communication skills aren't up to par, Conrad settles back into being back at Hogwarts and being around people and even teaching the students. Life is pretty swell for the next year and he's even gaining his confidence, until he starts having some trouble. He returns to New York during the Summer, doing small freelance jobs on the side. An unidentified woman seems to take over his place and not sure how to go about these things, he enlists the help of an acquaintance whom he's heard of that could deal with this problem. And this is how Hanna completely flips his world

He knew the woman involved had magical properties, which is why he didn't call the cops on her. What he wasn't expecting was that she was a vampire. And that Hanna would somehow provoke her. While they did eventually get rid of her, it wasn't without having Conrad turned into a vampire out of Hanna's stupidity. Despite being transformed, Conrad seems to have taken it pretty well. Panicked at first, but quick to be reassured that being a vampire didn't jeopardize his job. Still, Conrad returns to the student body, slightly apprehensive of his situation. Apptivity
